The Upfit Technician is responsible for installing, modifying, and customizing vehicles—primarily trucks and commercial units—according to customer specifications and manufacturer standards. This role supports commercial and retail sales by preparing vehicles with specialized equipment, accessories, and work‑ready components prior to delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Install aftermarket accessories and commercial equipment including lift kits, bed liners, toolboxes, ladder racks, lighting packages, hitches, running boards, grille guards, and shelving systems
- Perform electrical installations such as auxiliary lighting, inverters, wiring harnesses, and upfitter switches
- Coordinate with commercial sales team to review upfit specifications and timelines
- Inspect vehicles for quality control before delivery to ensure proper installation and safety compliance
- Maintain detailed documentation of installed equipment and labor time
- Work with vendors and third‑party upfitters when necessary
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines and warranty requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Adhere to all dealership safety policies and OSHA standards
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1‑3 years of automotive, mechanical, or fabrication experience preferred
- Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and vehicle modification
- Experience with commercial truck equipment installation preferred
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a physically demanding environment
- Strong mechanical aptitude

- Experience working with Ford Super Duty, Transit, or commercial fleet vehicles
- Familiarity with Ford upfitter guidelines and warranty processes
