Overview
This is a professional level position responsible for varied accounting and administrative work involving the operational functions of the East Alabama Commission's programs.
Work Responsibilities- Prepares and maintains fiscal records and statistics required for specific East Alabama Commission programs.
- Coordinates assigned program accounting and administrative records and reports with appropriate Commission Program Directors or Administrators.
- Assists program staff members on research, development, and preparation of various reports, budgets, and related documents on programs.
- Conducts audits of sub-grantees' fiscal and property records under general supervision of Fiscal Officer, providing general technical assistance and guidance to the sub-grantee’s staff.
- Performs other work related to Commission's overall program responsibilities as required.
- Working knowledge of fund accounting, credits/debits, accounts receivables, and accounts payable.
- Working knowledge of the functions of public service operation and management.
- Ability to maintain a General Ledger with supervision.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Working knowledge of OMB and Grant Management.
- Working knowledge of state and federal fiscal procedures relating to Commission programs.
- Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
- Working knowledge of computers, office and accounting software, and detailed working knowledge of fiscal and program record keeping operations.
- Ability to present ideas and materials within the scope of this position clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with fellow employees and the public.
- Ability to drive an automobile, possession of a valid driver’s license, and insurable under the Commission’s motor vehicle liability policy.

Preferred Experience
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in accounting or equivalent governmental accounting experience.
- Preferred three (3) years of experience in public sector accounting or grants management with a regional planning commission, area agency on aging or other human service delivery agency.

Position Classification Pay Grade: Pay Grade 14 – Starting Pay ($56,251)
Salary depending upon education and experience
Classification: Exempt
Expected Hours of Work: Full-Time Position – 37.5 hours per week with core hours between 8:00 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. May be required to work non-standard hours occasionally to complete job duties. Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule. Overnight travel may be required.
