Job Summary:
The Facility Plumber Operations Engineer is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the efficient operation of plumbing systems within government or organizational facilities. This role involves inspecting water supply, drainage, and sanitation systems, responding to plumbing emergencies, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with plumbing codes and safety standards. The ideal candidate is skilled in diagnosing plumbing issues, implementing repairs or upgrades, and maintaining reliable facility operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain, repair, and replace plumbing systems, including pipes, valves, faucets, pumps, toilets, sinks, water heaters, and other fixtures.
Inspect plumbing systems regularly to identify potential issues, leaks, or hazards, and take corrective action as needed.
Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies, such as leaks, clogs, or system failures, minimizing disruption to facility operations.
Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing systems, including routine inspections, cleaning, and minor repairs to extend system life.
Assist in the planning and installation of new plumbing systems, renovations, or upgrades to existing infrastructure.
Ensure all plumbing work complies with local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and documentation of plumbing repairs and inspections.
Collaborate with facility management, contractors, and other maintenance personnel to coordinate plumbing projects.
Utilize plumbing tools, diagnostic equipment, and technology to troubleshoot, repair, and optimize systems efficiently.
Stay current with industry standards, plumbing codes, and best practices in commercial and institutional plumbing.
Qualifications:
Journeyman or Master Plumber license preferred; relevant certifications or training are a plus.
Proven experience with commercial, institutional, or government plumbing systems.
Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, safety regulations, and best practices.
Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex plumbing systems.
Proficiency with plumbing tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate records.
Physical ability to perform hands-on plumbing work, including lifting, bending, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
Effective communication skills for coordinating with staff, contractors, and facility management.
