Overview
Anne Arundel Veterinary Emergency Clinic (AAVEC), located in Annapolis, MD, is seeking veterinarians passionate about working in emergency medicine for a 6-9-month training and mentorship program. We are looking for individuals who are team oriented, driven, reflective, and reliable to train with us and transition into an ER position at our hospital.
About UsAAVEC is a 24-hour emergency and critical care veterinary center in Annapolis, Maryland. With nearly 145 employees, including 18 full-time doctors, we are busy and collaborative. We share our hospital with board-certified specialists in Surgery, Canine Rehabilitation, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Neurology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Radiation Oncology, and Radiology. Our hospital features 8 surgical suites and 3 radiology suites, along with on-site CT, MRI, and an underwater treadmill.

The ER Immerse Training Program will prepare veterinarians for a sustainable and satisfying career in emergency medicine. Built from the ground up to be different than traditional rotating internship programs, the ERi program focuses on core competencies essential for an emergency veterinarian, including client and team member communication, professional skills, and life/work integration. The program uses a hybrid training approach with simulation-based didactics and authentic training experiences with live patients.
The curriculum is designed using an evidence-based strategy to identify essential competencies for a successful career as an emergency clinician.
- 6-9-month training program beginning June/July 2026
- 1-year commitment as an ER mentee/associate veterinarian at AAVEC

- Varied schedule with 12 shifts per month, rotating through day, swing, and overnight
- Additional surgical training offered, if desired
- Always work with a dedicated mentor on shifts
- No on-call
- Competency-based curriculum that includes asynchronous learning on Vetbloom and weekly live virtual didactic rounds
- Regular live continuing education events led by specialists and experienced emergency doctors
- Starting base salary of $150,000
