At Veterinary Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Group, you’ll feel the warmth and openness of a small clinic, while having the opportunity and support of a united network. We provide rehabilitation and integrative medicine to dogs and cats in Maryland, DC, Delaware, and Northern Virginia. Our specialties include orthopedic, neurology, sports medicine, and rehabilitation services. VOSM treats thousands of orthopedic patients every year, more than a third of them coming to us from other states and abroad.

Our specialists are actively engaged in teaching, clinical research, lecturing, publishing, and instructing other board‑certified surgeons. VOSM is where veterinarians bring their own pets for advanced orthopedic care and where we receive challenging cases from around the globe.

We are looking for a Full‑Time Veterinary Technician to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community. You’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end‑to‑end care for our precious patients—from hands‑on care and laboratory tests to supporting admission and discharge services.

Role Responsibilities
  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state’s Veterinary Practice Act.
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
  • Maintain relevant, comprehensive medical records and assist with practice systems.
  • Obtain health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
Experience & Skills Requirements
  • 1–2 years of clinical experience minimum.
  • Veterinary Technician licensure preferred but not required.
  • Experience with surgical and anesthetic procedures.
  • Familiarity with veterinary surgical procedures, common anesthetic drugs/agents, injectable and oral medications, and medical math calculations with proficiency in drug calculations.

  • Flexible about working additional hours when necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
