Peak Partners has a government contractor client looking for an experienced AI/ML Engineer. The right candidate will have a blend of hands‑on technical expertise, data science acumen, and strong collaboration skills to translate mission needs into scalable, production‑ready AI capabilities.
This position requires an on‑site presence at Annapolis, MD and Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph

- Design, develop, test, and operationalize AI/ML models to solve mission and business challenges.
- Implement model architecture and data pipelines, ensuring interoperability with existing systems and data sources.
- Manage the full AI/ML lifecycle — including training, retraining, deployment, scheduling, monitoring, and continuous improvement of models based on user and system feedback.
- Define, interpret, and communicate model performance metrics to both technical and mission stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, data engineers, and mission subject matter experts to deliver integrated, high-performance solutions.
- Ensure AI/ML systems adhere to security, governance, and compliance standards.
- Provide technical leadership and serve as the primary POC for AI-related efforts, coordinating across geographically distributed development teams.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging tools, frameworks, and best practices in AI/ML to strengthen mission outcomes and accelerate innovation.
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph (Polygraph must be within the last 7 years)
- Proven experience designing and deploying machine learning and deep learning models in production environments.
- Strong understanding of model architectures, data pipelines, and metrics analysis.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, C, or R.
- Experience with foundational software engineering principles, infrastructure management, data engineering, and data governance.
- Hands‑on experience with MLOps tools and frameworks (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow, Airflow).
- Experience deploying AI/ML solutions in secure cloud or hybrid environments (i.e., AWS Gov Cloud).
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
$135,000 - $195,000 per year. Ability to Telework 2 days a week.
