Med Star Health is looking for a Clinic Assistant Mentor to join our team at South Baltimore Region! We are looking for someone organized, timely, detail-oriented, with a positive attitude, and customer service skills for interacting with patients, including communicating with patients and family members of diverse ages and backgrounds.
As a Clinic Assistant Mentor, you will perform a variety of clerical and patient care duties essential to the daily operation of a minimum of three therapy locations. These duties include assisting with medical record operations daily; greeting, registering and escorting patients; completing set-ups and clean-ups for patient care; turning over patient rooms; performing other patient‑care duties as determined by the therapist.
As a Mentor, you will assist new Clinic Assistants to learn the role and educate them on the standard competencies and expectations of a Clinic Assistant.
- Inform therapist of patient arrival and escort patient to treatment room.
- Prepare treatment rooms and areas for evaluations and treatment.
- Change linen and arrange treatment supplies and equipment, e.g., prepare hot packs, cold packs, exercise equipment.
- Be timely and punctual in addressing the needs and expectations of therapists and patients.
- Assist with patient treatment as directed and/or provide coverage as needed.
- Carry out predetermined, well-defined treatment sessions under close supervision (exercise program, ambulation, transfer activities, balance activities).
- Routinely stock linen cabinets and maintain appropriate levels of linen; empty dirty linen hampers as indicated.
- Maintain all clinical supply par levels according to established levels.
- Inform clinic manager of patient and clinical system maintenance, workflow, and other clinical processes regularly.
- Follow established policies and procedures for cleaning and maintaining all equipment.
- Assist with ensuring that all equipment is put in its proper place and that the treatment areas and storage rooms are neat and orderly.
- Report any broken or missing equipment to the Clinic Director/Coordinator.
- Perform all administrative tasks as assigned, prepare the schedule for the next day, organize pre‑registration folders, adhere to schedules to maintain efficient patient care delivery.
- Greet all patients professionally and answer telephones as needed with the correct salutation.
- Provide effective coverage for the administrative team during scheduled and unscheduled absences.
- Assist patients with completing forms, review patient information, explain insurance benefits, witness all necessary forms, make copies of identification and insurance card, obtain physician prescription and/or HMO referral.
- Assemble the medical record with all registration forms accurately and timely according to established procedures and provide the record to the clinical provider at the time of the evaluation.
- Take responsibility for the development of new Clinic Assistants; assist in teaching through in‑services, shadowing, Web Ex/SiTELs, etc.
- Function as a role model through demonstration of professional conduct and assure compliance with Med Star National Rehabilitation Network (MNRN) and clinic policies and procedures.
- Serve as a resource and mentor for other Clinic Assistants.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-3 years as a clinic assistant or related experience.
- 1 year college or technical school certificate preferred.
This position has a hiring range of $17.5 - $28.73.
