General Summary of Position
Med Star Health is looking for a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) to join our team at MHPT @ Annapolis
. We are seeking a licensed CHT with professional competency as a general practitioner in occupational or physical therapy, demonstrated independent use of varied evaluation and treatment approaches, initiative to follow procedures and policies, and effective communication skills.
As an Occupational/Physical Therapist with the Certified Hand Therapist credential, you will provide therapeutic interventions to prevent dysfunction, restore function, and/or reverse the progression of pathology of the upper limb (hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder) to enhance an individual’s ability to perform tasks and participate fully in daily life. You will use specialized skills in assessment, planning and treatments, assist with improving upper limb function, alleviate pain, and prevent disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed therapy in accordance with practice guidelines.
A comprehensive knowledge of upper limb anatomy is required. As requested, CHTs may participate in program planning and protocol development and assist the team in meeting established goals.

Primary DutiesProvides evaluation services including review of pertinent historical information, performance of specific assessments, determination of recommendations, and documentation of results. Explains evaluation findings and treatment plan to patient and family and involves patient and family in goal setting.
Demonstrates proficiency in implementation of treatment protocols based on evaluation findings and patient presentation. Consults with other healthcare professionals as indicated. Recognizes and documents changes in patient condition requiring modification of the plan of care and/or medical/rehabilitation consultation.
Completes appropriate discharge planning and follow-up care. Documents and charges for patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner, establishing a clear picture of the patient’s course of care including initial evaluation/plan of care, baseline goals, legible daily notes, progress summaries, and discharge evaluation.
Demonstrates effective time management and productivity. Maintains an accurate schedule. Provides frictionless patient access to care through flexibility, adaptability, creativity, and empathetic behaviors in a patient-driven environment.
Takes initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth and competency for self and organization. Serves as a clinical instructor to assigned students.
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy, or High School Diploma/GED with an accredited program.
3 years of experience as an occupational or physical therapist with 4,000 hours (about 5 1/2 months) or more in direct practice in hand therapy.
Maryland, District of Columbia, or Virginia licensure as deemed necessary for your location(s).
Successful completion of the CHT (Certified Hand Therapist) exam as administered by the HTCC.
Basic Life Support (BLS).
Every CHT is required to demonstrate continued professional development and competency by recertifying every five years.
This position has a hiring range of $72,758 - $130,041
