Med Star Health is looking for a PRN Vascular Technologist to join our team at Med Star Cardiology Associates, Annapolis. M-F hours as needed, no weekends/holidays. The ideal candidate will possess mathematical and organizational skills and the ability to recognize emergency medical situations.
The Vascular Technologist will perform vascular testing procedures, assist in the implementation of protocols and procedures, and participate in ongoing Performance Improvement programs.
Primary Duties- Adheres to departmental Safety and Infection Control programs. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains Vascular Lab equipment per protocol. Reports injuries per established protocol and demonstrates compliance with Universal Precautions.
- Completes all related clerical procedures, ensuring completeness of required patient data before billing and interpretation. Complies with Med Star Health billing requirements, directs reports and EKGs as per protocol, maintains required statistics, and enters all patient and test information into Data Check system. Performs orientation and in-service education as appropriate.
- Completes all related procedures prior to performance of test procedure. Assists with timely planning, coordination, and scheduling of all vascular testing procedures. Maintains internal and external Vascular Lab supply inventories, clarifies testing requests in ambiguous situations, and communicates information about specific tests to the patient and/or family, explaining procedure prior to testing.
- Consistently performs technically adequate EKG tracings with appropriate patient information displayed when required. Demonstrates accurate lead placement prior to EKG performance, enters all required information, and transmits completed EKG into MUSE via modem and disc as appropriate.
- Consistently performs technically adequate vascular testing procedures. Performs vascular-related patient history and physical examination prior to testing. Obtains and records optimal gray scale and color flow images, Doppler signals, measurements, and calculations. Identifies and documents appropriate data/information during testing procedures. Identifies vascular abnormalities related to the patient's symptoms and/or diagnosis, and immediately notifies the physician/Vascular Surgeon of any serious abnormalities identified during the procedure.
- Graduation from an accredited ultrasound program or at least 12 months of experience in vascular testing procedures.
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) registration or registry-eligible in Vascular Technology, or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
- Associate degree in allied health field preferred.
This position has a hiring range of USD $34.98 - USD $62.52 per hour.
