Manufacturing Engineer
Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and optimizing manufacturing processes with a focus on and efficiency. They lead Manufacturing Readiness Reviews for new design efforts and ensure production readiness through detailed project management and process development activities.
Responsibilities- Develop new and improve existing manufacturing processes with a focus on affordability.
- Lead Manufacturing Readiness Reviews to ensure production can begin in accordance with the overall manufacturing plan.
- Provide ROI justification for process improvements.
- Create and manage project plans for process development activities.
- Design custom tooling using CAD and PLM Software.
- Specify, identify, and procure new manufacturing equipment for production readiness.
- Develop and optimize process parameters.
- Revise process documentation and work instructions.
- Monitor process yields and costs to recommend and implement improvements.
- Solve manufacturing problems related to materials, designs, equipment, and tooling.
- Assist in training new personnel and participate in designing operations training materials.
- Support factory maintenance personnel with troubleshooting and repair of process equipment.
- Recommend product design improvements for advanced electro‑mechanical assemblies.
- Document novel process capabilities and guidance for product designers.
- Participate in design readiness and producibility reviews for new products.
- Provide supplier support to resolve issues within the supply base.
- Provide Request for Proposal (RFP) input related to Non‑Recurring Engineering (NRE) requirements.
- Experience in MS Office software applications.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment in an engineering support role.
- Experience with developing new processes in a cross‑functional team.
- 3D Solid Modeling experience using CAD software.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- US Citizenship is required.
Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with J‑STD and IPC‑STD requirements.
- 3D modeling experience in Unigraphics/NX.
- 3D modeling experience with assembly tooling, concept development, and tool creation.
- Experience with naval systems/products/programs.
- Experience with Siemens PLM and SAP MES software.
- Experience with rapid prototyping in an ESD sensitive environment.
This position is located at a cleared facility in Annapolis, MD, where the Manufacturing Engineer will work alongside a team of 21 Electro‑Mechanical Technicians specializing in assembly and testing. The role may require flexible hours, including second shift and overtime, and all employees must possess at least a Secret Clearance or eligibility.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of ANNAPOLIS, MD.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50.00 – $65.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plans, or program terms.
