RecruitmentThe State Highway Administration (SHA) is recruiting for the Transportation Engineer I – Materials and Geotechnical Track. This position is located in the Office of Materials Technology (OMT) in Anne Arundel County Hanover Complex. It is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill current and future vacancies throughout the agency.
This announcement may also be used for future vacancies throughout the state of Maryland for SHA.
Nature of WorkTransportation Engineer I’s in this track perform engineering duties in support of project development, highway infrastructure, asset management, construction projects, and condition assessments. In a learning capacity, the position may conduct material certification reviews, materials QA/QC testing and evaluation in the laboratory and in the field, utilize materials test results in pavement/geotechnical design, perform forensic evaluations of structures, prepare inspection reports, and make repair recommendations under guidance of an experienced engineer.
The TE I should communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and OMT personnel, review project documents, specifications, and drawings, attend meetings, and act as a liaison between District, OMT, and contractors.

Note – Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements.
