Overview
The Shipping Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing domestic and international shipments to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of goods. This role partners closely with operations, inventory, vendors, and carriers to manage shipping schedules, documentation, compliance, and continuous process improvement across the logistics function.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate outbound and inbound shipments across domestic and international lanes
- Select and manage carriers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers
- Prepare and review shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs paperwork
- Track shipments, proactively resolve delays, and communicate status updates to internal stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, trade compliance requirements, and internal SOPs
- Monitor freight costs, audit carrier invoices, and identify cost-reduction opportunities
- Collaborate with inventory, warehouse, and production teams to align shipping schedules with demand
- Maintain accurate shipping records and data within ERP, WMS, or TMS systems
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to shipping efficiency, accuracy, and service levels
- 2+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, or supply chain operations
- Working knowledge of domestic and international shipping processes
- Experience with common carriers (LTL, FTL, parcel, air, ocean)
- Familiarity with shipping documentation and Incoterms
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with ERP, WMS, or TMS platforms and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with customs compliance and international trade regulations
- Prior exposure to cost analysis and freight optimization
- Experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, or e-commerce operations
- APICS, CSCMP, or related logistics certification
- Logistics coordination and execution
- Vendor and carrier management
