Full‑time Registered Nurse (RN) – Nurse Manager Outpatient Community Care, aligned under Chief of Staff.
ResponsibilitiesThe Nurse Manager (NM) is the designated first‑line supervisory authority and is responsible and accountable for the operation of their assigned units and provides coverage for other NMs as needed. The NM is responsible for the direction and supervision of orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.
They enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence‑based cutting‑edge programs/processes.
The NM engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. They adhere to ethical principles in decision‑making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. They equip staff with tools for culturally competent care and promote a culture of accountability for high‑quality, cost‑effective outcomes. They cultivate alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence.
The NM contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence‑based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. They promote an inclusive workplace valuing diversity to achieve the organization’s vision and mission.
The Care in the Community Nurse Manager reports to the Chief Nurse for Community Care. Their responsibilities encompass assessing, developing, implementing, evaluating, and revising program elements performed by the Community Care staff. Coordination with various stakeholders, including VAAAHS providers and non‑VA facilities, is essential to ensure high‑quality, appropriate, and cost‑effective care for Veterans receiving non‑VA care. Additionally, the Nurse Manager oversees a culturally diverse workforce, engages in administrative tasks, and provides clinical oversight.
Key duties involve planning, assigning, and evaluating work, addressing disciplinary issues, and identifying training needs. They are also responsible for performance measures, improvement initiatives, customer/patient satisfaction, safety, and adherence to standards and regulations. Active participation in committees and collaboration with unions is integral to their role.
The incumbent is responsible to the assigned rating and approving supervisors and is accountable to the Chief of Staff (COS).
Compensation and BenefitsPay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards
Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
Work Schedule: M‑F, 7:30am‑4pm
