We are seeking a motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with an interest in Neurocritical Care and Neuroendovascular services to join our Neurosciences team at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital. Our hospital is a 500+ bed Level 1 trauma center, recognized by the Joint Commission as a Thrombectomy‑capable Stroke Center. We serve as a community teaching medical center for South Washtenaw County, Michigan, specifically the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti areas.

Requirements
  • Masters degree in physician assistant or nursing (Requirement for NPs: AGACNP or ACNP only)
  • State of Michigan Licensure - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment or eligible to obtain
  • American Heart Association-extra‑low‑risk (BLS) - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • American Heart Association ACLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • Neurocritical care society ENLS certification and NIHSS before starting clinical work and maintained throughout employment.

The Team

Our team consists of four neurointensivists, three neurointerventional neurologists, andमो eight current APPs, along with a dedicated neurocritical care pharmacist and various levels of learners.

The position includes a 2‑3‑month onboarding process before the APP can work independently, regardless of prior critical care experience. The ideal candidate will provide clinical services for 12 shifts per month, each lasting 13 hours. Shifts will be scheduled from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. for day shifts and from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. for night shifts. This position requires a mix of day and night shifts and includes holidays and weekends, which will be evenly distributed among the ICU APPs.

Duties & Responsibilities

A typical day may include:

Patient Care & Assessment
  • Conduct daily rounds, review patient history, medications, and neurological status.
  • Develop, oversee, and document individualized plans of care for neurocritical and neurointerventional 마 patients.
  • Order, monitor, and adjust medications and treatments; interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation, including follow‑ups.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with physicians, APPs, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Serve as a patient advocate and provide support, education, and updates to patients and families.
  • Participate in hand‑offs Compare and communicate effectively during shift changes or patient reassignments.
Education & Mentorship
  • Mentor APPs, medical students, and residents; provide feedback and guidance.
  • Educate patients тыс and families, and staff on care plans, procedures, and best practices.
Quality & Safety
  • Monitor patient outcomes and program metrics, particularly in stroke and neurocritical care.
  • Simply involve in quality improvement and research initiatives.
  • Ensure safe medication administration and follow infection control standards.
On‑Call Coverage
  • Provide coverageахь for neurocritical care and neurointerventional services during day and night shifts.
  • Communicate with attending physicians to ensure continuity of care.
