Description
The General Surgery Team provides patient-centered care within a fast-paced Level 1 Trauma Center. Types of cases include:
Acute Care Surgery, Colorectal, General Surgery, Endocrinology, Urology, Gynecology, and oncology.

CompensationPay Range: $35.64 – $49.53 – depends on experience/licensure date.
ShiftOn-call, weekend/holiday rotation. Response time 30 minutes. Shifts available days and afternoons.
Role OverviewThe role will function in both scrub and circulating roles.
Qualifications- Graduation from accredited nursing program.
- All new hires must have a BSN degree or agree in writing to obtain one within five years from the date of hire or transfer to an RN role.
- Current Michigan Nursing License.
- BLS.
Knowledge of nursing theory, practice and age-specific needs; interpersonal skills to maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Critical thinking to perform principal duties and responsibilities of the job. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care.

- Use critical thinking by gathering and analyzing patient information, then responding to a patient situation.
- Develop, implement, evaluate and revise an individualized plan of care using evidence-based interventions and standards of care. Identify needs and plan for care across the continuum considering patient and family preferences.
- Identify patient and family education needs. Develop and implement teaching plans based on evidence-based practice, using teach-back methodology to ensure learning.
- Create an environment that promotes a positive patient experience.
- Communicate verbal and written information, including EMR documentation, accurately, timely, concise and thorough. Effectively convey patient status, priority goals and interventions during rounds and handoffs.
- Maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approach conflict constructively, helping to identify problems, offer solutions and participate in resolution.
