Clean Water Action is a non-profit focusing on campaigns related to water access, water quality, and environmental justice. With over half a million members nationwide and 160,000 members in Michigan, Clean Water Action works to empower people to take action to protect America s waters, build healthy communities and to make democracy work for all. Recent victories include passing a drinking water standard for PFAS in Michigan and funding lead pipe replacement across the state.

Job Description:

We are working with the Michiganders for Money Out of Politics coalition to pass a Michigan state law that comprehensively prohibits monopoly utilities from making state or local political contributions. From issues like holding polluters accountable to taking bold steps to address the climate crisis, political money from major corporations has been a roadblock to passing people-centered policy. We can t trust lawmakers to do the right thing while they re being funded by corporations, so we re putting this up for a vote by the people of Michigan on next year s ballot.

As part of our staff, you would organize communities around these vital issues.

• One-on-one communication, education, fundraising, dispersing information, volunteer recruitment, and good record keeping.
• Organize communities around environmental and democratic accountability issues.
• Engage with diverse stakeholders to advance campaigns and policy goals.

• Strong oral and written communication skills with good attention to detail.
• Cultural competence and a commitment to racial justice and equity.
• Interest in non-profit or campaign work, policy, or politics.
• Ideal candidates enjoy connecting with people as part of daily work and are motivated to make real change on these issues.
• Multilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply. We provide extensive on-the-job training.

• Hours:
  
  2pm to 10:30pm, Monday through Friday.
• Pay: $20/hr.
• Employment type:
  
  Part-time currently, with a view toward full-time, long-term positions starting immediately.

• These are in-person positions. All staff utilizing the office are required to wear masks in indoor spaces. N95 or KN95 masks and sanitizer are provided.
