Job Title: Manufacturing Technician
Location: Ann Arbor, MI
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00/hour

Role Overview

The Manufacturing Technician ensures that all products meet quality standards and performance specifications. This role may also involve interfacing with vendors to diagnose and resolve part or material issues.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Build, test, and troubleshoot optical and electronic assemblies
  • Write and revise Work Instructions within Probe Manufacturing
  • Set up equipment and perform complex processes and measurements
  • Identify procedural problems, conduct experiments, report findings, and recommend solutions
  • Provide technical assistance and contribute to continual improvement of manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment
  • Accurately complete all required documentation
  • Follow written and verbal instructions, including safety precautions (SDS sheets)
  • Collaborate with managers and engineers to support process and product development
  • Complete tasks within established production schedules
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace using 5S principles
  • Cross-train in other positions within Raman manufacturing
Required Skills & Attributes
  • Knowledge of optics applications (lenses, microscopes, and light-based equipment)
  • Mechanically inclined with experience using hand tools
  • Strong mechanical experience and ability to read and understand assembly drawings
  • Analytical skills for mathematical computations and problem-solving
  • Experience handling optical equipment and materials, including high-powered lasers
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and strong communication proficiency
  • Proactive, team-oriented, with excellent initiative and follow-through
  • Experience with ERP systems (Syteline ERP experience a plus)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in electronic, optical, or mechanical assembly
  • Associate degree or 7+ years of work experience relevant to the job requirements
