CUSTODIAL & GROUNDS ASSOCIATE

SCHEDULE OPTIONS:

• Sunday-Thursday | 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM
• Tuesday-Saturday | 9:00 PM - 5:30 AM
• Tuesday-Saturday | 11:30 PM - 8:00 AM

POSITION SUMMARY
Custodial & Grounds Associates are responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and safety throughout university facilities. This role requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to follow procedures while working both independently and as part of a team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Vacuum, dust mop, and wet mop floors.
• Empty and sanitize receptacles following proper safety guidelines.
• Clean chalkboards, mirrors, interior and entrance glass.
• Clean and restock restrooms and scrub shower rooms.
• Hand dust furnishings and assorted surfaces.
• Sweep and mop stairs, clean risers, and dust handrails.
• Move and arrange furnishings within rooms for cleaning.
• Fill soap dispensers and move cleaning equipment and supplies between floors.
• Collect lost and found items and report to supervision.
• Spot clean carpet stains and wash walls as needed.
• Unplug commodes, urinals, and drains without dismantling fixtures.
• Report items in need of repair.
• Clean and polish stainless steel and brass.
• Clean elevators and tracks, window wells, and blinds.
• Remove graffiti and flyers from walls.
• High dust vertical and horizontal surfaces.
• Clean telephones and disinfect exam tables.
• Police building entrance ways and surrounding areas.
• Open and lock buildings or rooms according to schedule.
• Transport waste materials to central locations.
• Turn lights and equipment on or off as needed.
• Maintain inventory of supplies according to instructions.
• Remove snow and spread ice melt when necessary.
• Report accidents, illnesses, unauthorized people, or other security concerns immediately.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• GED or High School Diploma.
• Ability to effectively communicate and follow instructions.
• Ability to wear a backpack vacuum for up to 8 hours per shift.
• Ability to clean areas several feet off the floor, near the floor, and around obstacles.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Must be able to perform all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
