REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: EL Director and Building Principal Description:
The focus of this role is to establish effective communication between home and school through written or oral communication. A translator/interpreter specializes in converting written or spoken material from one language to another while maintaining the original meaning, format, and tone. The district aims to create a cohort of translators and interpreters to support our efforts to provide language support for our English Learner (EL) families.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Ability to speak at least one language other than English
Most frequent languages needed:
Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Vietnamese, Pashto/Dari, Ukrainian, Russian.

Ability to support bilingual families with an understanding all school functions
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide accurate translations of texts. Reach out to families to provide school information and/or updates in a language familiar to the family.
To promote student advocacy by supporting families' rights to engage meaningfully with educators about their children's academic language development and its relationship to academic achievement in a language they understand.
Regular, reliable and punctual attendance.
OTHER
SKILLS and ABILITIES
:
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and parents. Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Work with diverse ethnic and socio-economic groups. Work with a minimum amount of supervision.
