This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the development, functionality, accessibility, and continuous improvement of the station’s digital platforms, including its website and mobile app. The Web Director ensures a seamless and engaging user experience while maintaining brand consistency, supporting content workflows, and expanding digital tools that connect audiences with Impact 89FM’s music, news, podcasts, and interactive features.

• Platform Oversight:
  Lead the maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of Impact 89FM’s website and mobile app platforms.
• Accessibility Leadership:
  Ensure all digital assets—including the website, mobile app, and published content—meet current accessibility standards and best practices.
• Mobile App Management:
  Oversee updates and improvements to the Impact 89FM mobile app, ensuring it reflects website branding and supports informational features, live radio streaming, podcast access, and interactive audience engagement tools.
• Content Management:
  Oversee publishing workflows and ensure content from all departments is properly formatted, displayed, and maintained across digital platforms.
• Website Maintenance:
  Troubleshoot technical issues, manage plugins and updates, and ensure site stability, security, and performance.

  Work closely with the Art Director to implement visual themes and custom design elements consistent with station branding.
• Digital Adaptation:
  Adapt website layouts and structures to accommodate evolving content types produced by station teams.
• SEO & Analytics:
  Support search optimization strategies and monitor website performance metrics to improve audience reach and engagement.
• Training & Support:
  Provide guidance and training to staff members who publish or manage digital content.
• Collaboration:
  
  Partner with Digital Media, News, Sports, and Music teams to ensure digital platforms meet evolving content needs.
• Compliance:
  Ensure digital content and platforms adhere to MSU policies, FCC regulations, and copyright and trademark law.
• Project Management:
  Track digital initiatives, platform updates, and improvement projects to ensure timely completion.
• Event Support:
  Represent Impact 89FM at events and assist with required station initiatives.
• On-Call Responsibility:
  Serve as the first point of contact for technical issues related to FM operations during assigned Director on Duty weekends.

• Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student at Michigan State University.
• Strong understanding of Word Press and content management systems.
• Knowledge of general website operations and digital design principles.
• Excellent grammar, writing, and communication skills.
• Self-driven, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Timely communication skills (responses expected within 24 hours during the standard work week).
• Willingness to work during non-business hours as needed.
• Enthusiasm for supporting Impact 89FM’s digital presence and audience engagement.

• Experience at Impact 89FM or another media organization.
• Leadership experience and familiarity with the station’s mission, vision, and values.
• Understanding of AP style and editing for the web.
• Experience with web hosting platforms and custom HTML/CSS.
• Knowledge of SEO and digital analytics tools.
• Multimedia skills including photography, video, audio, web design, and graphic design.
• Experience managing mobile or web applications.

As Web Director, you’ll lead the digital backbone of one of the nation’s premier college radio stations. You’ll shape how audiences interact with Impact 89FM across web and mobile platforms while gaining hands-on leadership experience in digital strategy, accessibility standards, platform management, and audience engagement. This role offers valuable real-world experience in web operations, mobile development coordination, and digital media leadership within a collaborative student-run organization.
