Job Summary

The University of Michigan’s Information Assurance team at Michigan Medicine (IA:

MM) is seeking a Product and Application Specialist. This role will join the Assurance Platform Management Team, report to the Assurance Platform Manager, and oversee lifecycle management, configuration, and optimization of on‑premises, hybrid, and SaaS products. The specialist collaborates with stakeholders, vendors, and IT teams to ensure products are secure, reliable, and aligned with organizational needs. Successful candidates are highly motivated, results‑oriented, data‑driven professionals willing to secure the dynamic Michigan Medicine environment.

Responsibilities
  • Product Administration
    • Lead implementation, configuration, and day‑to‑day management of SaaS, hybrid, and on‑premises products.
    • Coordinate with business and service partners for product consumption and services built upon them.
    • Develop and maintain data and metrics for tracking product health.
    • Use Service Now and other tooling to track and align products and services across IA:

      MM.
  • Lifecycle Management & Strategy
    • Create and maintain product roadmaps.
    • Use threat intelligence to inform strategy and lifecycle decisions.
    • Coordinate with HITS enterprise hosting for server and hardware maintenance and upgrades.
  • User and Access Management
    • Oversee identity integration (SSO, MFA) and ensure proper user support.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Evaluate existing and new solutions for fit, cost, and value; recommend upgrades or alternative tools.
  • Vulnerability & Risk Management
    • Collaborate with security and compliance teams for audits and risk assessments.
    • Mitigate vulnerabilities with business owners and vendors.
  • Change Management
    • Facilitate the HITS Change Management process for change tracking and management.
  • Documentation
    • Maintain up‑to‑date documentation of configurations, workflows, access controls, and vendor contacts.
    • Curate disaster recovery and business continuity processes.
  • Support and Troubleshooting
    • Communicate service outages to end‑users and support teams.
Required Qualifications Senior Level
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Assurance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of IT experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience applying security‑related technologies, practices, or services.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct security incident response experience.
Intermediate Level
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Assurance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of IT experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience applying security‑related technologies, practices, or services.
  • Minimum 1 year of direct security incident response experience.
