Position

Purpose:

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Shifts Available: 6:30 am-3:00pm; 2:30pm-11:00pm, 10:30pm-7:00am

Status Available: Full-time, Part-time, Contingent/PRN

Every Other Weekend and Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.

The PCT assists patients in completing ADLs including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.

A PCT will collect and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.

Short Stay has 43 rooms (22 bays and 21 private rooms with door and bathroom).

Short Stay unit usually has adult patients greater than 18 years old and treats post-surgical and post-procedural patients.

Length of stay can vary; post op patients are 24-48 hours; mix of observation and inpatient status patients, so some patients can stay up to a week or so.

Qualifications

Minimum education / licensure

High school diploma or GED
Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.
