This is a full-time on-site role based in Ann Arbor, MI, for a Fire and Construction Safety Specialist. The specialist will be responsible for overseeing fire prevention and life safety measures, ensuring compliance with all relevant fire protection regulations, and assessing fire suppression systems across the campus. Day-to-day tasks include conducting safety inspections, identifying fire hazards, developing mitigation strategies, coordinating with construction teams for fire safety planning, and providing training on fire prevention protocols.
Collaboration with multiple departments to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors will be an essential component of the role.
- Strong understanding of Fire Prevention and Fire Safety principles, with the ability to assess risks and recommend preventative actions.
- Knowledge of Life Safety codes and regulations, with experience in ensuring compliance and meeting safety standards.
- Experience with Fire Protection systems, including designing, inspection, and maintenance processes.
- Proficiency in overseeing and maintaining Fire Suppression Systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Effective communication and training skills to educate staff on safety best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a large, complex setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in fire and safety management.
- Certification in fire safety or related areas (e.g., NFPA, CFPS) is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
