Job SummaryThe QI Specialist will work closely with Asthma Program Faculty and Administrative management to advance the goals and objectives of the project. The QI Specialist will be an essential part of the project and will be largely responsible for driving the work, leading meetings, identifying priorities, and executing the necessary tasks.

Who We AreThe Michigan Medicine Asthma Program in Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) is a recognized national leader in the area of Asthma and Airway Disease Research. We have a robust program encompassing research, education, and quality improvement, with multiple industry-sponsored grants and contracts to advance the care of asthma patients.
The Asthma Program is seeking a Quality Improvement (QI) Specialist to work with Michigan Medicine faculty and other external providers to support work aimed at reducing the use of short-acting beta-agonist (SABA) medications and promoting increased utilization of inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) reliever therapies. The SABA reduction component of the project will work to advance processes and changes that have been implemented but need to expand beyond the current scope.
The IC reliever component of the project will work with providers to achieve one of 4 potential goals aimed at increasing utilization of IC reliever therapies in clinical practices via a Maintenance of Certification Part IV program (MOC IV).

Project Management
- Work with internal and external providers to identify necessary process changes, improvements, and projects to drive the progress of the quality improvement work, including but not limited to: developing and spearheading quality improvement projects/processes to support the goals of the project.
- Provider peer-to-peer coaching to increase the confidence of clinicians participating in the MOC IV program.
- Monitor and review ongoing initiatives to assess efficacy and efficiency and develop solutions to address challenges, meet with participants to identify, and address quality improvement interventions and provide feedback on ways to operationalize.
- Convene and lead meetings as necessary to advance the work of the initiatives
- Follow-up with providers to assess progress, barriers, successes, and report back to the project team
- Develop documents supporting quality improvement work, including but not limited to toolkits, reference guides, resources, and operational instructions.
Project Administration
- Develop meeting summaries of peer-to-peer coaching detailing discussions, next steps, suggestions etc.
