Job Summary
Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.
Responsibilities
Interview, hire and train Medical Assistant staffObtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical examExplain prescribed procedures and treatments to patientsEnsure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely mannerAdminister prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedureDraw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processingPerform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructionsCoordinate oversight of laboratory with Lab Director, Lab Consultant, and Medical Director as neededPerform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulationsEnsure patient immunizations are well documented, administered in accordance with approved procedure, and stored appropriatelyConduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basisPrepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for proceduresMaintain complete and accurate documentationOther duties and responsibilities as assignedQualifications
Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
