HDR is seeking civil engineering candidates passionate about the power industry to join our team in Ann Arbor, MI. This role involves engineering tasks with varying complexity levels, assigned by a Project Engineer or Project Manager.
The EIT/Coordinator may work independently on small tasks and assist senior engineers on larger projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing routine and detailed design tasks
- Conducting analysis, engineering calculations, and developing construction documents for various structures
- Verifying code compliance, quality checks, and coordinating civil/structural work with other disciplines and CAD designers
- Designing site utilities and overhead lines, with experience or interest in civil design
- Participating in conceptual and detailed design activities for power, industrial, and institutional projects
- Communicating effectively, working in teams, and demonstrating analytical and organizational skills
- Developing design options through analysis
- Assisting with cost estimates and specifications
- Performing routine engineering and design tasks
- Participating in field reviews or construction observation, with some travel required
- Performing other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PLS-CADD software
- Understanding of geotechnical theory and foundation design
- Experience with power transmission line projects up to 500kV, including project estimates, plan and profile prep, and engineering documentation
- Experience with overhead power transmission preferred; underground experience helpful
- EIT certification is strongly preferred; candidates without it will be titled "Coordinator" and expected to obtain EIT for career growth
- Local candidates are preferred
