Overview
Who We’re Looking For The Powertrain Design & Evaluation (PDE) organization is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Powertrain Engineer to support high-voltage (HV) battery development. The primary responsibility of this role is to contribute to HV battery technologies for the company's mobility solutions and automotive products. Reporting to the Senior Manager, this position plays a key role in PDE’s mission to deliver highly competitive battery pack designs that support the company's Carbon Neutrality goals.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
- Lead development and localization of HV battery packs or components for next-generation electrified vehicles (Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, Battery Electric, Fuel Cell) and non-automotive mobility projects
- Define technical requirements for HV battery packs or components while collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Develop HV battery packs or components with third-party suppliers, ensuring alignment with requirements and project schedules
- Conduct packaging, fastening, performance, strength, and durability studies in collaboration with R&D teams in the U.S. and Japan
- Create and manage validation plans with suppliers; ensure testing meets standards and performance requirements
- Visit supplier manufacturing sites to confirm processes align with design intent and high quality expectations
- Identify and integrate innovative technologies and methods for future battery packs through competitor benchmarking
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- 2+ years of experience developing parts with suppliers, affiliates, or TMC (Japan)
- 2+ years of effective project and time management experience
- Beginner-level or higher CAD skills (CATIA V5)
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Full project-cycle experience taking a product from concept to production (1 project)
- 2+ years of experience within the Powertrain Division
