Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Environmental Engineer to support environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory requirements across operations in Michigan. This role is responsible for evaluating environmental impact, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and implementing practical solutions to reduce environmental risk while supporting business objectives.
The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of environmental regulations, technical problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work cross‑functionally with operations, engineering, and regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including EPA, EGLE (Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy), and local requirements.
- Conduct environmental assessments, audits, and inspections of facilities and operations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor environmental management programs and permits.
- Support air, water, waste, and stormwater compliance initiatives.
- Prepare and maintain environmental reports, documentation, and permit applications.
- Investigate environmental incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to design environmentally responsible solutions.
- Support sustainability initiatives, pollution prevention, and waste reduction efforts.
- Serve as a technical liaison with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders.
- Stay current on environmental regulations and industry best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in environmental compliance, engineering, or a related role (experience level flexible based on role).
- Working knowledge of federal and Michigan environmental regulations.
- Experience with permitting, reporting, and regulatory compliance preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non‑technical audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental reporting systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience in manufacturing, waste management, energy, or environmental services.
- Familiarity with ISO 14001 or environmental management systems.
- Field experience conducting audits, inspections, or site assessments.
