The Opportunity

The ideal candidate will have 3-8 years of related work experience with experience in Structural design required. Proficiency in electronic design applications (CAD or similar) is required. Preferred software skillsets include Bentley Open Buildings Experience, Auto Desk AutoCAD, Bentley Micro Station 2D/3D, and Bluebeam. Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.

Job Summary

Functions in a project engineering technician capacity. Under general direction, supports engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables. Applies foundational engineering principles and design practices to create moderately complex concepts and solutions. Uses CAD/BIM/3D modeling tools to create, modify, and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables. Provides technical guidance and may mentor other engineering professionals to ensure quality and consistency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineering Standards:
    Applies knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and company policies; reviews project requirements to determine the correct deliverables format and contents.
  • Quality / Continuous Improvement:
    Applies the Quality Program to deliverables, supports continuous improvement and change management, and ensures design inputs are consistent with project needs and codes/standards.
  • Engineering Production:
    Applies basic engineering principles to develop moderately complex design concepts; performs design calculations, material quantities, estimates, and may review others' deliverables; may define work assignments and schedules; may participate in start-up activities for a specialized area.
  • Project Coordination:
    Coordinates with design group personnel to exchange project information; may support field activities.
  • Client Focus:
    Keeps internal clients in focus while understanding external client drivers.
  • Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology:
    Seeks and shares knowledge of current technologies and processes; exercises judgment in deliverable interpretation.
  • People Management (where applicable):
    Supports mentoring and development of less experienced engineers and technicians; may provide guidance and feedback.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • Education/

    Certifications:

    Diploma or Certificate preferred;
    Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Technology preferred.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Experience with CAD/CAD-related applications; intermediate knowledge of engineering standards, document control, and related procedures; knowledge of construction, procurement, and design principles; basic knowledge of project delivery practices.
  • Preferred Non-Technical

    Skills:

    Learning on the fly, problem solving, time management, and strong communication skills.
  • Preferred Technical

    Skills:

    Proficiency in CAD or equivalent applications; familiarity with Bentley Open Buildings, AutoCAD, Micro Station, and Bluebeam; ability to interpret engineering deliverables; knowledge of multiple disciplines and constructability practices.
