POSITION SUMMARYWe are looking for an experienced instructor and people-person to teach debate classes to children after school at least one day per week. Potential class description:
"Do you often try to convince your friends or family that a certain sports team, flavor of ice cream, pop music star, or video game is THE best? They may disagree with you, and you need to use specific examples and supporting evidence to help defend your position. Learning how to debate means learning how to use critical thinking skills to influence another person’s point of view.
If you want to know what it’s like to possess the power of persuasion, join us for an exciting after school class of word wars and rebuttals. We challenge you!"
Classes will be held one day per week and begin immediately after school, running until 5:00 or 5:30pm. The overall class length will be 6, 8, or 10 weeks depending on the term. Class supplies are to be provided by the instructor. There may be additional teaching opportunities in Rec & Ed’s summer camps, if desired.
