Job SummaryThe Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Undergraduate Advising Office is seeking an enthusiastic and team-oriented individual to join our office as an Undergraduate Academic Advisor. This position will play a key role in educating, guiding, and empowering both prospective and current ECE undergraduate students. This position provides accurate and timely academic advising on curriculum, academic programming and resources, policies and procedures.

You will report to the Assistant Director of Academic Programs.

- Advise prospective and declared ECE undergraduate students with in‑person/phone/virtual appointments and email on topics such as course selection and registration, major/career exploration, degree requirements, experiential learning opportunities, academic success strategies, University and College policies, and academic and personal resources.
- Use advising technology to maintain accurate student records including note taking.
- Track the progress of specific populations and provide proactive advising.
- Facilitate group and one‑on‑one orientation meetings for both cross campus and external transfer students.
- Facilitate declaration events for new ECE students.
- Support recruitment, graduation, open house, welcome week, campus days, majors fairs, and other large and small events geared toward current or prospective students.
- Plan and execute programs and events geared toward student enrichment and community building.
- Triage matters to the Assistant Director of Academic Programs, Chief Program Advisor or other U of M campus resources as appropriate.
- Serve as a back‑up support to other student services staff as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in one or more of these areas: academic advising, counseling, student development, education or administrative student services in higher education.
- Broad knowledge of student development, advising and mentoring, higher education practices, U of M procedures, and campus resources.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively with a high degree of accuracy while working in an environment of fluctuating priorities and interruptions.
- Ability to communicate accurate information in a context‑aware and welcoming style.
- Programmatic and event planning experience.
- Detail‑oriented with the ability to recognize and investigate data anomalies.
