Overview
We seek a board-certified or board-eligible complex general surgical oncologist for a clinical-track faculty position at the University of Michigan, with a preferred appointment at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will join the Division of Surgical Oncology, a collegial and dynamic group offering state-of-the-art care across a broad range of oncologic conditions. The Department of Surgery at the University of Michigan, founded in 1850, is internationally recognized for excellence in patient care, research, and education, and works closely with the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center, an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and national leader in clinical cancer care and research.
ResponsibilitiesThe primary clinical scope of practice will include soft tissue sarcoma and cutaneous oncology, including melanoma. The successful candidate will join a dynamic, high-volume sarcoma program and equally robust melanoma program. Our multidisciplinary team approach ensures comprehensive, patient-centered care and fosters innovation and collaboration. Fellowship training in Complex General Surgical Oncology (CGSO) is required. The position includes active participation in multidisciplinary care and tumor boards, enrolling patients on clinical trials, teaching residents and medical students, and engagement within the Rogel Cancer Center.
Opportunities to pursue scholarly activity, quality improvement, and educational innovation are supported and encouraged within the clinical track.
An academic appointment and leadership opportunities will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and interests. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in clinical trials, implementation science, and/or health services research, particularly as applied to surgical oncology. Fellowship training in CGSO is required.
