The Rogel Cancer Center (Rogel) is dedicated to training and developing the next generation of cancer researchers and providers. Rogel has a long history of supporting education and training of learners at all career stages, including high school and undergraduate students, medical students, other graduate and postgraduate trainees, junior faculty, as well as community physicians. Rogel established the Training, Education, and Career Development Coordination (TrECC) office to lead development and coordination of programming efforts across all levels of trainees and further demonstrates this commitment to training through strong financial support and robust structures and processes for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

The Rogel TrECC Administrative Specialist will report to the TrECC Program Manager and will perform the following duties:

Administrative Support (40%)

Provide comprehensive administrative support for the Rogel Cancer Center Training and Education Coordination (TrECC) component, including:

  • Organize and facilitate meetings for TrECC advisory committees, including scheduling, developing agendas, preparing minutes, and tracking follow-up actions.
  • Perform general administrative duties such as correspondence management, budget tracking, PCard reconciliation, and office support tasks according to university policies.
  • Oversee updates and maintenance of the Rogel Trainee website, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and accessibility.
  • Plan and develop content for communications, including the Next Gen newsletter for trainees and mentors.
  • Coordinate application and award processes for Rogel Cancer Center scholarships and programs, acting as a liaison between applicants and reviewers.
Program Support (40%)

Provide Programmatic Support For TrECC Programs

  • Assist in the implementation and evaluation of TrECC programs:
    Rogel CONNECT, Emerging Cancer Scholars Exchange, Advancements in Cancer Research Symposium, One Day Closer, and summer trainee initiatives.
  • Coordinate speaker outreach and logistics.
  • Assist with stipend processing and compliance documentation, including adherence to Children on Campus policies.
  • Support event planning, including logistics, communications, and ensuring programs are accessible to participants with disabilities.
Grant Administration (20%)

Provide comprehensive administrative support for the Rogel TrECC component, including:

  • Collect, maintain, and report data on TrECC trainees, members, and programs; ensure proper handling of confidential, sensitive information in line with U-M data privacy standards.
  • Assist in the coordination and submission of grant proposals, including compiling supporting documents, preparing budgets, and ensuring compliance with University of Michigan and sponsor policies.
  • Assist in preparing annual and final progress reports.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Canva, Qualtrics, and use or basic management of websites.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and accessibility.

Intermediate:
At least two years of administrative, project, or event coordination experience.

Associate:
Considerable professional experience.

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education or biomedical research settings.
