Job Title: Receptionist

Duration: 1 month contract on W2 with possibility of extension.

Location: Ann Arbor, MI 48105

Pay Rate: $19.00/hr on W2 without benefits.

Monday - Thursday, 12:00 PM - 5:30 PM

Position Summary

The Temporary Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for students, visitors, and campus partners at the Wadhams Veteran Center. This role provides front‑desk support, assists veteran students with basic needs and referrals, and supports office operations through administrative and document‑processing tasks. Regular on‑campus attendance is required. While veteran status is highly valued, it is not a mandatory requirement.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Greet students and visitors, creating a welcoming and supportive environment for veterans and their families.
  • Handle inquiries in person and by phone, directing individuals to appropriate departments, staff, or campus resources.
  • Assist veteran students with scheduling appointments with Academic Advisors and/or School Certifying Officials (SCO).
  • Support the Veterans Office with processing Certification Requests, including scanning, filing, and organizing documents in physical and digital systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling student records and sensitive information.
  • Perform general front‑desk and administrative support duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1‑3 years of relevant office or administrative work experience.
  • Ability to adapt to peak demands and high‑stress periods.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and community members.
  • Ability to understand and explain veterans’ benefit policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential materials appropriately.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with military benefit application and distribution processes.
  • Familiarity with veteran support services and resources.
