Position: Accounts Payable Specialist (AP) - Onsite in Ann Arbor #25720

Blue Chip Talent
, in partnership with a retail and distribution organization, is seeking a skilled Accounts Payable Specialist
. This role is responsible for processing high-volume invoices, maintaining vendor records, and supporting financial compliance initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong Excel skills and experience working within structured accounting processes.

Job Duties
  • Process corporate, department, and store‑level accounts payable invoices
  • Verify invoice approvals and ensure proper reimbursement documentation
  • Ensure compliance with company reimbursement and accounting policies
  • Process invoices to ensure timely and accurate vendor payments
  • Request and reconcile vendor statements
  • Maintain and update vendor records, including W‑9 documentation
  • Research and resolve vendor debits and credits
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems
  • Respond to internal inquiries regarding invoice status and provide supporting documentation
  • Adhere to internal controls and ensure compliance with financial governance standards, including SOX requirements
  • Support internal and external accounting audits
  • Assist with special projects and other accounting‑related duties as assigned
Skills & Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field OR equivalent accounting work experience
  • Experience processing high-volume accounts payable transactions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
  • Experience in maintaining vendor master records and documentation
  • Understanding of internal controls and financial compliance standards
  • Experience with enterprise financial systems (e.g., ERP platforms)
  • Knowledge of People Soft Financials
  • Experience supporting accounting audits
  • Background in retail or distribution environments
