Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting operations of State and Liberty and plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records as the business continues to scale. This position is responsible for core accounting and administrative functions, supporting the close process, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across the organization.

This role is well suited for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a growing, evolving retail environment.

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
• Perform balance sheet and account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain general ledger accuracy in accordance with GAAP
• Support accounts payable processes, including vendor setup, invoice review, and payment coordination
• Assist with accounts receivable, cash, and inventory-related reconciliations
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and clearing accounts
• Support payroll, tax, and compliance-related accounting activities
• Assist with multi-state filings and compliance documentation, as needed
• Support audit requests and external reporting requirements
• Maintain organized digital records and documentation
• Identify process gaps and support improvements to accounting workflows
• Partner with finance, operations, legal, and HR teams as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• 2–4 years of experience in administrative, accounting, or compliance support roles
• Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, vendor management, and basic accounting principles
• Experience handling multi-state compliance or filings is a plus, including LLCs and sales tax
• Extremely organized with strong attention to deadlines and documentation accuracy
• Comfortable working with spreadsheets, digital files, and cross-functional teams
• Proficiency in Google Workspace, Quick Books or equivalent accounting systems, and Excel required
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
