PositionFull‑time Dockworker at our Ankeny Terminal.
Pay & Hours$23.01 per hour starting; $26.27 per hour on the first anniversary. Hours Monday–Friday, 12 am start.

Position SummaryConveying freight to and from trailers and storage areas by hand or with the assistance of forklifts and hand trucks.
Essential Functions- Command of English language with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively with internal and external customers. Perform simple mathematical calculations, handle receipts, read shipping labels and follow loading instructions.
- Responsible to load and unload freight according to DOT requirements on and off trucks by hand or by use of hand truck, dolly, or forklift.
- Sort and secure items on trucks according to DOT requirements or on the dock to prevent damage.
- Lift various types of materials (cartons, bags, cylinders, boxes, crates, drums, pipe, bars, rugs, etc.).
- Use common material handling tools such as forklifts, carts, dollies, banding machines, shrink‑wrap tubes, pallet jacks, and tow motors.
- Stand, walk, push, pull, twist, carry, bend, reach, and lift both above and below waist level; heavy lifting required.
- Work safely and professionally to reduce personal risk and risk to fellow employees.
- Comply with federal, state, and company regulations.
- Process all paperwork daily associated with the execution of the job.
- Be available and willing to work; exceptions require management approval.
- Work in a positive, supportive, and cooperative manner at all times.
- Perform other duties as directed or requested.
- Minimum age of 18.
- High school completion or equivalent.
- Pass a non‑DOT physical examination and functional screen.
- Consent to a pre‑employment drug screen;
Dohrn Transfer must receive a negative result. - Ability to read and write English and perform simple mathematical calculations.
- Lift 50 lbs. on a frequent basis and 100 + lbs. on an infrequent basis.
- Consent to a ten‑year check on work history; any gap of 30 days or more must be indicated and explained.
- At‑will employment; no guarantees of employment for any period.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting various types of materials (cartons, bags, cylinders, boxes, crates, drums, pipe, bars, rugs).
- Use of forklifts, carts, dollies, banding machines, shrink‑wrap tubes, pallet jacks, and tow motors.
- Standing, walking, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, carrying, bending at the waist, reaching, and lifting both above and below waist level.
- Must be physically capable of operating a forklift, pallet jack, load lock, and 2‑wheel handcart.
- Must lift unassisted weights that could exceed 80 pounds.
- Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods.
- Must safely enter and exit trailers, vans, flatbeds, forklifts, and tractors.
- Must work around and operate motorized equipment.
- Must perform essential functions under extreme hot or cold temperatures and dusty conditions.
