Job Title:

Clinical Lab Analyst

We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Lab Analyst to perform newborn screening testing on blood spot specimens. This role is crucial in identifying infants at risk for inherited conditions using various advanced methods including immunoassay, enzyme assay, electrophoresis, HPLC, tandem mass spectrometry, and molecular techniques.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily operations and routine maintenance, including calibration and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Document and review newborn screening test data, procedures, and results.
  • Release data and reports for use by healthcare professionals and newborn screening medical follow-up teams.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and prepare documentation for test verification or validation studies.
  • Conduct quality control and quality assurance procedures in accordance with established SOPs and policies.
  • Recognize basic problems and assist in troubleshooting laboratory method and performance issues.
  • Assemble quality control data for analysis, recognize problems, document issues, perform root cause analysis, and initiate corrective actions.
Essential Skills / Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Chemistry, Biology, Genetics, and Biochemistry.
  • Experience with HPLC and mass spectrometry techniques.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Genetics, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Compliance with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) qualifications for high complexity testing.
  • Minimum of 3 months hands‑on laboratory experience.
Work Environment

The work environment involves testing blood specimens from newborns, which are collected and dried on cards for analysis. The laboratory operates 24/7 and is responsible for testing samples from Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Alaska. This role requires working 25‑30 hours per week within the first shift from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The dress code mandates wearing long pants and closed‑toed shoes.

Pay & Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00‑$20.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
