Laboratory Operations Support Specialist

Job Description

Join a dynamic team in one of the largest genotyping laboratories within the agriculture industry. This position focuses on supporting daily laboratory activities, including operations, housekeeping, and maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the workspace. The role involves handling Chipping/Extraction/Detection and DNA research.

Responsibilities

* Handle general laboratory operations and maintain cleanliness and orderliness.

* Receive and label incoming samples; manage and maintain labware inventory.

* Prepare buffers and reagents for laboratory processes.

* Troubleshoot and operate equipment necessary for PCR production.

* Review and archive task-related documents accurately.

* Generate and evaluate lab-scale sample testing for customer technical programs.

* Conduct product research programs and support manufacturing decisions.

* Troubleshoot and maintain equipment for production and routine processing.

* Maintain logs, notebooks, and other records, including electronic documents.

* Perform internet and other information searches as needed for problem-solving.

* Conduct stoichiometric calculations for production using computer programs or manual methods.

* Follow EHS SOPs and Responsible Care regulations to maintain a safe work environment.

* Manage multiple tasks and work effectively with various technical supervisors.

* Interface with manufacturing, research personnel, and customers as needed to assure product quality.

Essential Skills

* Proficiency in Chemistry, Biology, and Laboratory operations.

* Bachelor's degree in Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, etc.).

* Preferred 1+ year of laboratory experience.

Skills & Qualifications

* Ability to troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment.

* Competency in performing stoichiometric calculations.

* Experience in generating lab-scale samples for technical programs.

Work Environment

Work in a highly automated environment within one of the largest genotyping labs in the agriculture industry. Various shifts are available: 1st shift from 8:00am - 5:00pm (Sunday - Thursday), 2nd shift from 3:00pm - 2:00am (Sunday - Wednesday), and 3rd shift from 1:00am - 10:00am (Monday - Friday).

This is a Contract position based out of Ankeny, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
