A long-standing, relationship-focused professional services firm is adding an Accountant/Bookkeeper to support a range of clients across industries - everything from construction to restaurants to manufacturing to startups.

This firm is known for being down-to-earth, collaborative, and committed to developing talent.

Every day looks a little different, but you will:

+ Handle core bookkeeping and accounting functions for 15-20 clients

+ Reconcile bank accounts and prepare financial statements

+ Run payroll (various frequencies!) and process payroll tax deposits

+ Prepare quarterly/annual payroll filings, W‑2s, and 1099s

+ Collaborate with clients to ensure smooth, accurate information flow

+ Solve unexpected "one-off" items that come up - because every client brings something different

+ Work closely with a supportive, connected team across multiple offices

This position is perfect for someone who enjoys variety and can navigate the "gray areas" that come with client work.

Work Environment

+ This role is can sit in either Ankeny, Ames or Waterloo.

+ Leadership styles vary by office - all supportive, approachable, and invested in your success

+ Primarily on-site with minimal travel to local client sites.

+ Business casual dress (yes to jeans!)

Schedule

+ Jan 1 - Apr 30:
Monday-Friday, 8-5 (expect ~54 hrs/week in peak period of January)

+ May 1 - Dec 31:
Mon-Thurs: 8-5, Fri: 8-1 (long weekends!)

Requirements

Who Thrives Here

You're likely a great match if you have:

+ 2+ years of bookkeeping, payroll, or general accounting experience

+ An Associate's degree in accounting or related field

+

Experience with Quick Books or similar accounting software

+ A proactive, resourceful, problem-solving mindset

+ The confidence to ask questions early and often

+ A desire to build workplace relationships, collaborate, and grow long-term

+ Flexibility to shift between different client needs and priorities
