This position may be filled as:

• DETAIL
  :
  The selected employee may be required to serve a trial detail prior to permanent promotion.
• TEMPORARY JOB APPOINTMENT
  :
  May be filled by temporary appointment. If a permanent position becomes available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
• PROBATIONAL APPOINTMENT
  :
  Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if selected.

Special Entrance Rate (SER):
Practical Nurse - Licensed 1: $19.48/hour;
Licensed 2: $20.84/hour;
Licensed 3: $22.30/hour. Premium pay exists at $5.00/hour for each hour worked in addition to base pay.

Salary
:
Salary depends on level of experience. Vacancies may be filled as Practical Nurse-Licensed 1, 2, or 3 depending on experience. Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.

Function
:
To provide basic nursing care to patients/clients in stable conditions and in predictable situations in accordance with the Professional Nurses Practice Act.

Level of Work
:
Entry.

Supervision Required:
Close supervision from a Registered Nurse or Practical Nurse of a higher level.

Location
:
Statewide – health care facilities and correctional facilities.

Job Distinctions
:
Differs from Practical Nurse-Licensed 2 by level of assignments and supervision. Supports nursing care plans under supervision and reports changes in patient status, administers medications, transcribes orders, and performs related tasks as assigned.
