The Business Development Sales Representative is a hunter-focused sales role responsible for driving new revenue through proactive prospecting, relationship development, and closing new business. This role focuses on acquiring new commercial, industrial, and high-value residential clients while coordinating closely with estimators, project managers, and service teams to ensure a seamless transition from sales to execution.

The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, comfortable with outbound sales activity, and capable of positioning Brazosport Plumbing as a trusted technical partner rather than a commodity vendor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Development & Lead Generation
    • Prospecting: Identify and pursue new clients requiring plumbing services.
    • Lead

      Qualification:

      Generate, qualify, and convert leads into long-term business opportunities by assessing client needs, system requirements, and project scope.
    • Market Research: Monitor local development activity, capital improvement projects, and maintenance trends to uncover new sales opportunities.
    • Networking: Attend industry events, trade shows, community functions, and contractor meetings to build relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Client Relationship Management
    • Client Outreach: Conduct outbound calls, site visits, and meetings with prospective and previous clients.
    • Solution Selling: Work closely with estimators and operations teams to develop customized plumbing solutions aligned with client budgets, timelines, and compliance requirements.
    • Proposal & Bid Management: Prepare, present, and follow up on bids, proposals, and service agreements.
    • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, scope, and terms to close profitable new business.
    • Project Handoff & Follow-Through: Ensure smooth transition from sales to operations and maintain client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Sales Targets & Reporting
    • Sales Goals: Consistently meet or exceed individual sales targets and company growth objectives.
    • CRM Management: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of leads, proposals, pipeline activity, and client communications in CRM systems.
    • Reporting: Provide regular updates to leadership on sales performance, pipeline status, market intelligence, and client feedback.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork
    • Internal Coordination: Partner with service managers, estimators, project managers, and technicians to ensure accurate scoping and successful project execution.
    • Marketing

      Collaboration:

      Support marketing initiatives by providing market feedback and client insights, and by participating in promotional efforts.
    • Client

      Education:

      Educate clients on preventative maintenance, system upgrades, code compliance, and long-term asset protection.
  • Industry Knowledge & Professional Development
    • Service Knowledge: Maintain working knowledge of Brazosport Plumbing services, including commercial, industrial, and residential plumbing repairs, maintenance contracts, and capital projects.
    • Competitive Awareness: Monitor competitor activity, pricing trends, and service offerings.
    • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing sales training and technical education to strengthen consultative selling skills.
Qualifications Essential Skills
  • Sales

    Experience:

    3+ years of business development or sales experience, preferably in plumbing, HVAC, construction, mechanical, or related trades.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver persuasive presentations.
  • Negotiation & Closing

    Skills:

    Demonstrated ability to negotiate and close new business.
  • CRM Proficiency: Experience managing sales pipelines and customer data in CRM platforms.
  • Relationship-Driven: Ability to build trust with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-Starter: Comfortable with outbound prospecting and minimal supervision.
Preferred Skills
  • Existing relationships within property management, municipal, industrial, or commercial real estate sectors.
  • Understanding of plumbing and mechanical systems, maintenance contracts, and construction workflows.
  • Experience working with estimators and operations teams in a service-based environment.
Other Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites and industry events.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
