The City of Andover (population 32,000+) is accepting applications for a Planning Intern to perform a variety of duties in the City Planning department. To apply, send a resume, a letter of career objectives, and a city application to the address at the bottom of this announcement.
Position DescriptionPrimary tasks include code enforcement and answering planning and zoning inquiries from residents and developers. The intern will also be involved in preparing staff reports for a variety of items that will go before the Planning Commission and City Council. The internship is intended to provide a broad planning experience to individuals seeking a career in planning.
QualificationsApplicants should be working towards a Degree in urban planning, urban studies, public administration, or landscape architecture. The ideal candidate will have previous municipal planning and/or public administration experience. Preference will be given to applicants who are self-starters, demonstrate problem-solving abilities, and have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
The internship is scheduled for a term of approximately May to September 2026. The intern would be expected to commit to a 32‑40 hour per week work program Compensation will be $20.00 –$22.00 per hour (depending upon prior experience).
