Position Summary
Trans Medics is transforming organ transplantation through the Organ Care System (OCS), an innovative platform that preserves and evaluates donor organs outside the body. Our Research team conducts high-impact translational studies that bridge laboratory science and real-world clinical application.
Job DescriptionThe Research Associate Intern will gain hands‑on experience supporting active research initiatives involving the Organ Care System (OCS). This role offers exposure to experimental design, real‑time data collection, and translational science in a fast‑paced biomedical device environment.
This internship is ideal for students interested in medical research, biotechnology, healthcare innovation, or pursuing graduate or medical education.
Responsibilities Laboratory & System Operations- Operate and troubleshoot the Organ Care System (OCS) under supervision
- Assist with sample collection and experimental setup
- Support execution of study protocols
- Participate in real‑time data collection, entry, and compilation across experimental studies
- Assist with organizing and analyzing complex datasets
- Support interpretation of results and identification of scientific insights
- Learn study design fundamentals including hypothesis development and experimental planning
- Assist with protocol execution and documentation
- Contribute to high‑impact research projects with clinical relevance
- Prepare summaries of research findings
- Strengthen written and verbal scientific communication skills
- Deliver a formal presentation of summer research findings at the conclusion of the internship
- Work within a multidisciplinary team including research scientists, engineers, and clinical partners
- Participate in research discussions and collaborative problem‑solving
- Fundamentals of translational biomedical research
- Experimental design and protocol execution
- Operation of advanced organ perfusion technology
- Data interpretation in a regulated research environment
- Professional research culture within a medical device company
This internship bridges academic coursework and real‑world translational research. Interns gain hands‑on exposure to advanced organ preservation technology while contributing to research with meaningful clinical impact.
Management ResponsibilitiesThis position does not have direct reports.
Physical Attributes- General office environment where there is a significant amount of time at a desk, working on computers and reviewing documents. This requires the ability to sit for extended periods. They also may need to stand for meetings or when moving around the office.
- Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Pre‑Med, or related field
- Demonstrated interest in medical research, biotechnology, or healthcare innovation
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Basic understanding of scientific principles and data analysis
- Willingness to learn laboratory techniques and operate equipment under supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Reliable, organized, and committed to completing assigned projects
- Availability for in‑person work throughout the internship
