Under the direction of the Solutions Architect, the Solutions Analyst defines, configures, develops, tests, enhances, and supports enterprise software applications to meet organizational requirements. This includes configuring third-party applications, analyzing system performance, supporting integrations, and documenting system specifications throughout the application lifecycle. The Solutions Analyst also serves as a key technical resource for end users, providing training, troubleshooting, and operational support across a range of enterprise platforms.
This position is focused on supporting Andover Public Schools' enterprise education applications, with particular emphasis on the Student Information System, and will also support Town Municipal functions as needed.
- Collaborate with departmental stakeholders to conceptualize and refine requirements for new applications, enhancements, and system configurations.
- Analyze existing business systems and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement or automation.
- Contribute to the definition and documentation of business and technical requirements, use cases, workflows, and specifications on a project-by-project basis.
- Participate in project planning activities, including scope definition, scheduling, testing, and deployment support.
- Research, identify, and analyze functional requirements of internal and external application users.
- Conduct research on emerging software products, updates, and modules to support procurement and modernization efforts.
- Liaise with vendors to support implementation, configuration, and issue resolution during deployment and upgrade cycles.
- Assist in scheduling, testing, and validating software improvements, updates, modules, and patches.
- Analyze technical specifications of new or updated applications to understand intended functionality and integration impact.
- Configure third-party and enterprise applications, including database definitions, security/permission structures, workflows, business rules, reporting components, and system parameters.
- Create and maintain user profiles, security roles, and access objects; load batch data and validate data accuracy.
- Support software upgrades, module implementations, and installations across multiple enterprise platforms.
- Troubleshoot data issues, application errors, configuration problems, and integration failures across internal and external systems.
- Set up and maintain file-transfer programs and interfaces with external agencies, data suppliers, and third‑party service providers.
- Create reports using SQL Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, and application‑specific reporting tools.
- Design and execute software performance tests to identify defects, isolate issues, and validate corrective actions.
- Analyze test results and prepare summaries, recommendations, and issue resolution documentation.
- Prepare operational metrics, statistics, and status reports for management and project teams.
- Develop user manuals, training materials, and technical documentation supporting system enhancements and workflow changes.
- Develop custom scripts and automations to enhance application functionality and streamline workflows.
- Train end users on new or updated functionality and provide ongoing technical assistance.
- Install, configure, and support software for end users as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Provide expert‑level support for Student Information System (Aspen) and other educational platforms used by teachers, administrators, students, and families.
- Configure and maintain SIS components such as calendars, grading structures, scheduling rules, attendance workflows, enrollment processes, and security roles.
- Troubleshoot data and application issues, working with vendors to create and resolve incident tickets and implement fixes.
- Support and maintain integrations between Aspen SIS and related platforms such as LMS systems, assessment tools, identity/rostering systems, transportation, food service, and data‑reporting platforms.
