Accounting Manager

$48–$58/hour | Conversion Salary: $100K–$120K + Bonus + Benefits

We are partnering with a growing, operationally complex organization in the Greater Boston area seeking a hands‑on, strategic Accounting Manager to support the Controller and serve as a key leader within the accounting and finance function.

This individual will act as the operational right hand to the Controller, bridging day‑to‑day accounting execution with financial planning and business performance analysis. The ideal candidate enjoys owning the close process while translating financial data into actionable insights during a period of growth.

This role will begin as a contract engagement with strong potential to convert to a full‑time leadership position within 2–3 months.

• Oversee full‑cycle accounting operations including general ledger, accruals, and reconciliations
• Manage month‑end and year‑end close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
• Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial reporting
• Prepare monthly reporting packages, including plan vs. actual variance analysis and key performance drivers
• Manage the close calendar and key deadlines
• Maintain and refine rolling forecasts and financial projections
• Support budgeting processes and ongoing financial modeling
• Conduct ad hoc operational and margin analysis
• Provide insights into trends, profitability, and overall business performance

• Review accounting team deliverables and provide guidance as needed
• Mentor and support accounting staff
• Partner closely with the Controller on strategic initiatives
• Serve as a bridge between detailed accounting execution and big‑picture financial strategy

• 7–12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Prior experience as an Accounting Manager or senior accounting leader
• Strong ownership of month‑end close and financial statement preparation
• Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Supervisory or team leadership experience required
• Experience with Sage Intacct preferred
• Experience in multi‑location or operationally complex environments preferred
• Comfortable working in a hybrid setting
• Hybrid schedule: 2 days onsite every other week (more concentrated onsite presence during onboarding/training)
