Job Description

We are looking for a hard-working, innovative mechanical engineer with at least 5 years of experience who can learn quickly and bring a fresh perspective to complex design challenges. In this role, you will have a hands-on opportunity to design, analyze, and test complex subsystem and rugged server designs, including multiple methods of cooling utilizing the latest technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Mechanical engineering tasks related to electronic subsystem and server design with components based on open standards. Includes mechanical packaging design, printed wiring board layout and ECAD support, connector selection, label & cable design, test equipment, prototype inspection & assembly, environmental testing, and the documentation required to procure and assemble hardware.
  • Collaborate with Hardware/Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement as part of daily activities.
  • Take products from concept design through integration, test, and production release.
  • Conceptualization, design, development, analysis, and documentation of mechanical hardware and/or systems for rugged military applications.
  • Design complex fixturing to support testing and advanced manufacturing techniques.
  • Create complex models and detailed drawings using Solid Works.
  • Communicate design concepts and document products to diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Support product verification testing such as thermal, airflow, vibration, mechanical shock, humidity, and environmental stress screening.
  • Drive procurement of prototype material to verify form, fit, and function.
  • Perform failure analysis of discrepant material in coordination with manufacturing and application engineering.
  • Draft test plans and inspection reports as part of verification and validation.
  • Structure Bills of Materials (BOMs/PLs).
  • Draft and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs/ECOs).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related technical field.
  • At least 5 years of experience.
  • Understanding of heat transfer and thermal management.
  • General knowledge of conventional and advanced manufacturing techniques, including additive manufacturing.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software, such as Solid Works.
  • Familiarity with material control processes and documentation (routers, work instructions, etc.) and related tools (Agile, Oracle, EPDM, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with standard documentation and presentation tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience.
  • Experience with Printed Wiring Board Assemblies design and processes.
  • Experience with chassis and digital/fiber optic cable design.
  • Experience presenting design and analysis at Prime subcontractor and Government milestone events (PDR/CDR/TRR).
  • Familiarity with ANSI/VITA Standards (46.0, 48.x, 66.x, 67.x).
  • Familiarity with GD&T.
  • Proficiency in Solid Works and PDM tools.
  • Experience with Thermal Analysis tools (Flo Therm, 6

    Sigma, SC Stream, or SC Flow).
  • Experience with Structural Analysis tools (Solid Works Simulation or Femap/NASTRAN).
  • Experience with Test Execution and Documentation (Plans, Procedures, Reports).
Pay Grade and Benefits

Pay Grade Range:
Full-time equivalent job grade salary range for this position

• $75,000.00 - $ annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees
• $84,000.00 - $ annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in VA, CA, NH or MA
• $88,500.00 - $ annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in NJ
