The Electrical Engineer I is a Hybrid position located in Andover, Massachusetts.
This position will be responsible for the design, implementation, and test (or the support of such efforts) for electronic circuits for acute care patient monitoring applications. The performance of these hardware elements shall be in compliance with the product requirements specification and the product quality standards. Additional responsibilities are to support clinical engineers, quality engineers, manufacturing, and test personnel through the development of new and existing products.
- Participate in the translation of technical system requirements for new (or existing) patient monitoring products into relevant sub‑system architectures and high‑level designs. Support the documentation of the sub‑system architecture and support trade studies with the product development group.
- Implement the sub‑system level architecture in the form of circuit designs which are responsive to the sub‑system level requirements, including product cost targets. Responsible for schematic capture, circuit simulations, and PCB layout. Document the design fully in the form of a hardware design theory of operation document, including a programmer's reference guide for software developers (if applicable).
- Participate in detailed design reviews of the hardware design in accordance with SOPs.
- Work with the design team to validate the design through formal design validation testing (DVT) activities, including margin testing, low‑level signal integrity testing, and preliminary EMI/EMC testing. Document the results of the DVT.
- Generate verification protocols, perform verification tests, and write or approve the content of verification reports. Support the documentation activities needed to meet internal and external requirements, specifications, and standards. Test within corporate, approval agency, and notified body guidelines.
- Develop a production test specification document which details all of the manufacturing process steps required to fabricate, assemble, and test the circuit design for volume production at a contract manufacturer. Support the design transfer activities for volume production to ensure accurate manufacturing databases are released in the appropriate MRP systems.
- Ensure process discipline and produce results on schedule.
Education:
- BS Degree (Electrical Engineering or a related field)
Related
Experience:
- Solid technical depth in the first principles of electrical engineering, including analog and digital design, power conversion technologies, and communication technologies as may be obtained by a BS EE degree or equivalent experience gained on the job.
Special Competencies or
Certifications:
- Design expertise using modern printed circuit board development platforms including Altium, Mentor, or Cadence design flows. Skills required to modify and use an integrated development environment to tailor C programs for low‑level test/characterization of embedded systems is a plus.
- Ability to work together with others in a team atmosphere, displaying civility, cordiality, friendliness, and empathy. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with varying amounts of individual responsibilities, conflict resolution, redirected priorities, etc. Ability to travel nationally/internationally, up to 10‑20% of the time.
The compensation includes a base salary range of $80,000 - $85,000 with an annual performance bonus (percentage of base).
