The RF Microelectronics/Module Design & Foundry Services Department at Raytheon in Andover, MA, seeks a Principal Electro-Mechanical Engineer to develop leading‑edge miniaturized 3

DHI sensors and systems for future generation technologies. The role requires strong mechanical and electrical engineering skills, hands‑on experience with semiconductor manufacturing and packaging, and the ability to drive a product from concept through fabrication, assembly, and testing.

• Work with cross‑functional hardware engineering teams to develop advanced microelectronics packages—including 3
  
  DHI, 3D, and 2.5D (interposer + chiplets) and novel material and process solutions for RF, digital, mixed‑signal, and photonics products.
• Leverage industry‑leading manufacturing and novel materials to achieve new levels of electro‑mechanical performance and reliability.

• Typical requirement of a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with eight or more years of relevant mechanical and electrical engineering experience (an advanced STEM degree may count as three years).
• Experience performing circuit layout design using 2D CAD tools.
• U.S. citizenship to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

• Master’s or Ph.D. in a STEM field.
• RF circuit design experience, including 3D EM simulation in HFSS or similar tools.
• Experience with 2D and 3D CAD/EDA tools such as Cadence Virtuoso or Allegro/APD+.
• Familiarity with semiconductor wafer processing and finishing (plating, bumping, dicing).
• Design experience with 3D and 2.5D packaging, complex CAD/EDA workflows, and RF/thermal/digital co‑design.
• Knowledge of cutting‑edge materials and fabrication techniques for semiconductor manufacturing and packaging.
• Proficiency in 3D mechanical CAD modeling and analysis tools (e.g., Solid Works, Creo).
• Experience qualifying and implementing high‑performance materials for electronic products.
• Strong background in documenting, fabricating, assembling, and testing military/defense or commercial state‑of‑the‑art electronics.
• Design experience for extreme environmental requirements.
• Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance analysis for drawings.
• Current DoD Secret clearance.
• Innovative attitude toward research and development of new technologies.
• Excellent interpersonal, multi‑tasking, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead small teams.

Salary range: 101,000 USD – 203,000 USD. Eligible employees may also receive short‑term and/or long‑term incentive compensation, subject to business performance.
