Base pay range$65,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr
The Staff Accountant I will support the finance and accounting team by maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and performing general accounting functions. This role requires a strong attention to detail, a commitment to accuracy, and an ability to work collaboratively within a team.
General Ledger Management- Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and maintain a schedule of due dates for monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings and license renewals.
- Coordinate with external tax preparers to ensure timely and accurate filings.
- Manage and update tax portal login credentials and communicate changes as needed.
- Maintain a schedule of property tax filing deadlines.
- Prepare supporting documentation and file property tax returns where applicable.
- Provide backup support for processing vendor invoices and payments as needed.
- Assist with reconciling AP and AR accounts during month-end close.
- Support resolution of discrepancies between purchase orders, invoices, and receipts.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Prepare variance analysis and account reconciliations as needed.
- Generate ad hoc financial reports for management as requested.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Ensure all transactions are properly recorded and reconciled.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Participate in special projects aimed at improving accounting processes and systems.
- Conduct financial analyses to support business decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or product-based environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- General knowledge of corporate tax processes and compliance, with the ability to coordinate and manage multi-state and federal tax activities in collaboration with external tax preparers. Experience with Avalara or similar tax automation software is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Net Suite or similar ERP systems).
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
