The Staff Accountant I will support the finance and accounting team by maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and performing general accounting functions. This role requires a strong attention to detail, a commitment to accuracy, and an ability to work collaboratively within a team.

• Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
• Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare and maintain a schedule of due dates for monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings and license renewals.
• Coordinate with external tax preparers to ensure timely and accurate filings.
• Manage and update tax portal login credentials and communicate changes as needed.

• Maintain a schedule of property tax filing deadlines.
• Prepare supporting documentation and file property tax returns where applicable.

• Provide backup support for processing vendor invoices and payments as needed.
• Assist with reconciling AP and AR accounts during month-end close.
• Support resolution of discrepancies between purchase orders, invoices, and receipts.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Prepare variance analysis and account reconciliations as needed.
• Generate ad hoc financial reports for management as requested.

• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Ensure all transactions are properly recorded and reconciled.

• Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.

• Participate in special projects aimed at improving accounting processes and systems.
• Conduct financial analyses to support business decisions.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or product-based environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• General knowledge of corporate tax processes and compliance, with the ability to coordinate and manage multi-state and federal tax activities in collaboration with external tax preparers. Experience with Avalara or similar tax automation software is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Net Suite or similar ERP systems).
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
